With an appreciation for how unique and complex people’s life experiences and emotional worlds are, we work within a co-creative process that goes far beneath the surface. We dive deep. We go with people on a journey in which they uncover parts of themselves they did not even know (consciously) existed, parts that have actually been alive and actively driving most of their daily life experiences, without them knowing it.

We help people get to know and accept their entire selves. True self-acceptance is learning to identify and accept the things we really like about ourselves AND the things we don't like as much. Simultaneously, a person has choice to make differences in areas they want to change and also identify where they cannot make changes. You can learn to have self-acceptance and self-love while still being able to have goals and desires for change. This is very different from living in a state of "I won't be okay until I… (become this or that, or am this or that).”

People do what they do most often with the best intentions. Yet, it is common for things not to go as planned. In other words, "symptoms" can be thought of as misguided attempts at communicating something. Usually that something is a need that is not being met. Then when symptoms are only seen as “just symptoms,” the person's needs continue to go unrecognized. Often, they become incredibly misunderstood/ misinterpreted in ways that contribute to a person’s decline in emotional health. As the person feels increasingly misunderstood there can be a rapid downward spiral into exasperation, outrage, hopelessness, defeat, or worse.

People suffer at times without having anyone bear witness. We work to prevent devastating outcomes of long term emotional pain such as self-mutilation, suicide, homicide, and eating disorders among others. We do not just simply "give you tools." We appreciate the unique complexity of human life and learn about you, with you, in a way that will naturally guide you towards the life you want to live.

You can enhance your relationships and the sense of meaning and purpose you feel in your life. You can become empowered and capable of living in freedom. Research has continued to show that improved emotional functioning and more fulfilling relationships can actually change the functioning of the brain and enhance the quality and longevity of a person’s life. When you allow yourself to accept who you are, health and well-being, self-esteem, and self-understanding follow suit. People find their whole selves and experience the benefits that come with living one's authentic life.

INDIVIDUAL

Patients work one-on-one with a psychotherapist in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. Together they explore the patient’s past and present life experiences and emotional world. This leads to discovering profound insights which bring desired changes and relief.

Couples / FAMILIES

Couples and family therapy works with all members in the dynamic. Each person’s experiences and emotional worlds are explored while simultaneously addressing how each person plays a role in the system. This leads to enhanced connections between members allowing for more meaningful and satisfying relationships.

GROUPS

Group therapy offers a powerful and unique experience that promotes significant growth in a person’s interpersonal world and sense of self. It is often utilized as an important adjunct to treatment.
